The Art Committee of the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) presents the monumental light installation 'Moving Light' at their impressive project space. The installation will be on view until 2021.
At the LUMC this installation develops a distinctive meaning through the context of its location: a research hospital in an architectural setting. The physical location with its enormous height provides an "eye-level experience" of the light installation on different floors throughout the building. The interpretation of the work gains extra dimension by this special location, a hospital. Here the meaning of the work is triggered by illness, healing, death, grief, and joy in an artificial environment, where daylight is virtually absent. At the ground floor, the visitor can walk through the installation and perceive the "depth" of the slowly "moving daylights" in the sky above.
This project is realized with the generous support of the Mondriaan Fund.
