The Art Committee of the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) presents the monumental light art installation 'moving light' at their impressive project space. The installation will be on view for two years, until 2021.
At the LUMC this installation develops a distinctive meaning through the context of its location: a scientific hospital in a architectonical setting. The physical architectural location with its enormous height, provides an 'eye level experience' of the light installation at the different floors throughout the building. The interpretation of the work gains extra dimension by this special location, a hospital. Here the meaning of the work is triggered by illness, healing, death, grief and joy in an artificial environment, where daylight is virtually absent. At the ground floor the visitor can walk through the installation and perceive the 'depth' of the slowly ‘moving daylights’ in the sky above.
