‘Heimweh’ (painful longing for birth ground)
Video installation ‘Heimweh’ explores and depicts the notion of the sea and memory, scattered across 12 sculptural screens. The multi-channelled video reflects on memory as an often faded, fragmented experience. The video shows waves breaking on a sandy beach before disappearing into an enigmatic, toxic green fog. The organic shape of the red, screen casings mimics natural forms while also appearing totally alien. They seem as if they have just washed ashore themselves. The work invites viewers to reflect on earthly life by embodying one of its main elements—the sea.
