This light sculpture is composed of interlinked circles of light suspended in front of a black canvas. Each circle is programmed to subtly light up in a sequence, creating cadenced patterns and movements, it mimics the rhythm of breathing.
The round lights are fluorescent tubes that have been intertwined like the medieval chain maille. Traditionally, chain maille is used for armor, meant to protect the heart of a person. By creating this chain maille from fragile glass tubes and imbuing it with breath, the chain maille itself becomes the personification of the vulnerable human being.
